Graduate Geophysicist
Location: Kuala Lumpur - KLCC
Overview of Role:
We are seeking graduate geoscientists with a desire to develop careers in seismic data processing, depth imaging and/or quantitative interpretation (QI).
Successful candidates will join our energetic and growing project teams in a fast-moving and high-tech work environment to deliver high-quality services to the global oil and gas industry.
You should have a keen desire to learn new technical skills, have the capacity to work independently with careful attention to detail, and be able to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
The successful candidate will be assigned to a project team with the responsibility of helping deliver seismic processing, depth imaging and/or QI projects. Initially, tasks will include:
- Managing, preparing and ensuring quality control of geosciences data to support team projects
- Preparing, running and managing production work flows on company computer system and resolving any issues that may arise during a production run
- Seismic velocity analysis
- Implementing simple seismic processing, imaging and QI tasks; testing and parameterisation of basic algorithms
- Seismic interpretation and manipulation of well data and other supporting technical data
- Completing project documentation
- Performing other related tasks as assigned by the team leader
Staff will be expected to follow guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure delivery of the highest quality products to both internal stakeholders and external clients. In addition, staff will be expected to work effectively with all team members and take responsibility for delivering the work assigned to them within set deadlines.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Geology / Geophysics / Maths / Physics / Engineering, or equivalent
- High level of computer proficiency
- Excellent communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English
- Organised, attention to detail, and able to produce accurate work
- Motivated to complete assigned responsibilities within set deadlines
- Willing to work in Kuala Lumpur
- Malaysian citizenship or permanent residency
The following experience is desirable, but not mandatory:
- Knowledge of, and experience working with, Linux, Unix, and geoscience software / applications
- Oil/gas industry experience – with working knowledge of seismic or digital signal processing
