QI Geophysicist
Location: Kuala Lumpur - KLCC
Overview of Role:
We are seeking a number of Quantitative Interpretation (QI) Geophysicists – from graduates with minimal industry experience, to those with extensive practical industry experience – to join our growing and energetic project teams in delivering high quality services to the global oil and gas industry. There is opportunity for long-term career progression and increasing responsibility relative to the candidates technical and project management skills.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated to work in a fast-moving and high-tech work environment, have the capacity to work independently with careful attention to detail, and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills. He or she should also have excellent written and oral communication skills (English), be highly organised, and have the technical capability of delivering high-quality work.
The successful candidate will be assigned to a project team, and allocated responsibilities relevant to their experience that will include the following:
- Delivering QI service projects – including managing project schedules, carrying out day-to-day tasks to perform project work, ensuring quality control of data, and consulting with colleagues
- Preparing project reports and presentations, and participating in project meetings (where appropriate), for both internal and external clients
- Performing other related tasks as assigned by the team leader
Requirements:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Geology / Geophysics / Maths / Physics / Petroleum Engineering, or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English
- Organised, attention to detail, and able to produce accurate work
- Motivated to complete assigned responsibilities within set deadlines
- Willing to work in Kuala Lumpur
- Malaysian citizenship or permanent residency
The following experience is desirable, but not mandatory:
- Previous experience in seismic processing, seismic interpretation or seismic amplitude and AVA assessment, forward modelling and calibration, fluid detection and DHI analysis
- Knowledge of rock physics methods, seismic inversion and reservoir characterisation
- Knowledge of, and experience working with, Linux and/or Unix
