Seismic Depth Imaging Specialist

Location: Kuala Lumpur - KLCC

Overview of Role:

We are seeking Seismic Depth Imaging Specialists – from graduates with minimal industry experience, to those with 3-5yrs experience – to join our growing and energetic project teams in delivering high quality seismic services to the global oil and gas industry.  There is opportunity for long-term career progression and increasing responsibility as technical and project management skills develop.

The successful candidate should have knowledge of geology, seismic interpretation, seismic depth imaging and/or seismic processing, with a keen desire to learn more about all of these topics through practical application of our seismic processing and depth imaging workflows.  He or she should also have the capacity to work independently with careful attention to detail, and demonstrate excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.  

The successful candidate will be assigned to a project team, with the responsibility of delivering seismic processing and imaging projects.  Tasks can include some or all of the following:

  • Managing, preparing and ensuring quality control of geosciences data to support team projects
  • Depth imaging and seismic processing of 2D and 3D land and marine seismic data (including generation of processing flows, parameter testing, velocity interpretation and model building).
  • Preparing, running and managing production work flows on the company computer system and resolving any issues that may arise during a production run
  • Preparing project reports and presentations, and participating in project meetings (where appropriate), for both internal and external clients
  • Where professional experience is relevant, helping mentor and/or supervise other staff
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned by the team leader


Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Geology / Geophysics / Maths / Physics / Engineering, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent in written and spoken English
  • Organised, attention to detail, and able to produce accurate work
  • Motivated to work in fast-moving and high-tech office environment, and complete assigned responsibilities within set deadlines
  • Willing to work in Kuala Lumpur
  • Malaysian citizenship or permanent residency


The following experience is desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous practical work experience in seismic data processing, digital signal processing or depth imaging
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with, Linux and/or Unix, and industry depth imaging tools
  • Basic scripting and/or programming skills
